In defence of Eddie Jones’ call to change the ruck laws

All rugby fans remember where they were when Italy embarrassed England for nearly an hour at Twickenham with their anti-ruck tactic.

England v Italy - RBS Six NationsConor O’Shea and Brendan Venter deserve all the credit in the world for the ploy, which made Eddie Jones’s vaunted side – who were at the time still hunting down New Zealand’s consecutive wins record – look foolish.

But, in this piece, I argued that the repeated use of a perfectly legitimate tactic meant that the laws should be changed so it cannot be repeated.
