I don’t often write about rugby for Connexion – it’s not the usual remit of a newspaper for anglophones in France, but the editor asked me to put this op-ed together after a conversation in which I got angry over the FFR’s treatment of players who were, to all intents and purposes, full-timers.
I’ll admit, I wondered if I was the right person to write about this – but the editor insisted my knowledge of rugby meant I was best-placed to do so. I hope it’s turned out okay.
