SA Rugby Mag: Montpellier succumb to shock defeat

Getting to write for someone new is always a pleasant-if-slightly-nervy feeling – to see it live, with barely a alteration is always a boost…

This was actually my second piece for these guys, but the first to be published – the first has a slot in the print magazine due out a bit later this month. I filed this SA-player focused piece almost immediately after the Top 14 2020/21 season opener at Montpellier’s GGL Stadium finished.

[Handre] Pollard put six months with no rugby behind him in double-quick time, playing as if he’d never been away, as he scored 13 points for Montpellier and created the first Top 14 try of the 2020-21 season.
